A 17-year-old male has tragically lost his life following a high-speed collision. The unfortunate incident took place on Sunday morning in Smith County. According to reports from the local sheriff’s department, law enforcement officers observed a vehicle traveling at an excessive speed. One officer clocked the speeding truck at 124 miles per hour while on patrol. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Joel Munoz, is reported to have allegedly disabled their vehicle’s lights during the pursuit. To address the situation, a second officer was dispatched to join the chase. By the time the officers apprehended the driver, the vehicle had left the roadway and overturned multiple times, resulting in the ejection of the 17-year-old operator. Regrettably, Munoz did not survive the crash. His 16-year-old passenger was transported to a nearby medical facility but is expected to recover from serious injuries.
