Fatal Augusta County car crash death of Georgeanna K. Hardesty.

Virginia State Police have named the truck driver and passenger who lost their lives in a serious highway collision that took place on Tuesday morning. Augusta County was the location of the incident.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:19 a.m. on the eastbound section of I-64, close to the 89-mile marker. According to Virginia State Police, the large freightliner truck was traveling east when it made a sudden misjudged maneuver, causing it to leave the right side of the roadway. The vehicle proceeded to breach the guardrail, descended a slope, struck a tree, and ultimately flipped onto its side.

Identified by authorities as Georgeanna K. Hardesty, who was 51 years old and resided in Iron Gate, Virginia, was operating the vehicle at the time. Sabrina L. Harris, also 50 years old and from Covington, Virginia, was the passenger in the truck. Virginia State Police confirmed that both individuals were secured with seatbelts during the time of the accident.

Tragically, Hardesty and Harris both succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Virginia State Police have indicated that the incident is currently being investigated.
