Fatal Vancouver shooting death of Cynthia Vance
The death of 77-year-old Cynthia Vance is linked to a violent incident reported in a Vancouver, Washington home. Law enforcement officials announced the identification of the deceased woman, stating she was one of the individuals shot during a series of break-ins that occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
Initial emergency services were dispatched at approximately 6:15 p.m. concerning a security breach in the 13600 block of Northeast 22nd Street, where reports indicated a man, described as being armed with a shotgun, had entered a residence and attacked a resident inside.
The first individual involved in the incident managed to escape to a neighboring home but unfortunately suffered injuries during the escape. While responding to the initial location, police officers examined adjacent properties for potential dangers. Inside one of these nearby houses, they located the body of Cynthia Vance. The Clark County Medical Examiner subsequently determined that the elderly woman had succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head.
Further investigation by police resulted in the discovery of a male suspect, identified as 29-year-old Triston McGarrah, inside a different nearby residence. Officials confirmed that Mr. McGarrah, the alleged intruder, had also died from a head gunshot wound. Numerous other individuals were present at the scene and received medical attention after being transported to local healthcare facilities.
The ongoing investigation by authorities has not revealed additional specifics regarding the events, as they work to fully understand the sequence of the violent episodes.
