Rigoberto Lopez dies in fatal Tulare County shooting
Fatal Tulare County shooting death of Rigoberto Lopez
Investigators have confirmed that the victim involved in the Tulare County incident is Rigoberto Lopez, a 32-year-old man. Lopez was shot and killed during an encounter with law enforcement officers.
He was being sought for an alleged attempted murder that happened on July 7th in Ivanhoe. Lopez was accused of shooting another person in the face and then fleeing the crime scene. That individual, thankfully, survived the shooting.
On July 17th, police detectives received information that led them to Lopez’s location. They went to an apartment complex and found him concealed behind a piece of furniture. When deputies entered the apartment unit, Lopez fired at them.
The deputies responded by firing back in self-defense. Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.
