Fatal Charlotte car crash death of Samuel Holmes

Samuel Holmes, a 27-year-old man, died as a result of the accident. The collision happened on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina, specifically on the outer loop of Interstate 485 between Wilkinson Boulevard and West Boulevard.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol reported that Mr. Holmes was operating a Chrysler van that was carrying five other people. Another car, a Honda CRV driven by 16-year-old Logan Sauer, left its lane and hit the van. Both vehicles then left the road and impacted a stationary large truck. Samuel Holmes and four other individuals inside the van—Taylor Willis (age 23), Brynlon Holmes (age 1), Addyson Holmes (age 3), and Kamron Wood (age 8)—did not survive the incident. A teenage girl in the CRV survived but was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the stopped truck was not injured. Law enforcement is still looking into the accident, but they do not expect to file charges against anyone connected to the event.
