Fatal Phoenix car crash death of Antonio Wauneka

Phoenix authorities confirmed on August 3 that 37-year-old Antonio Wauneka passed away after a collision involving two motor vehicles that occurred during the early morning period. The incident took place in Phoenix.

Local law enforcement reported the accident happened at approximately 5:56 a.m. at the intersection found at 57th Avenue and Indian School Road. Police arrived to find a female, later identified as 44-year-old Phyliss Wauneka, without movement inside one of the vehicles. Medical personnel confirmed her death at the scene.

Antonio Wauneka, who was also a passenger in that vehicle, was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Regrettably, he did not survive his injuries.

The driver of the other car was present at the location and assisted investigators. No indication of impairment was observed by the authorities.

Initial reports suggest Phyliss Wauneka entered the intersection from a full stop sign while moving northbound across Indian School Road. Police are investigating whether excessive speed was a factor.

The Phoenix Police Department indicated the case is ongoing and potential legal action will be determined after the investigation is complete.
