Law enforcement agencies have officially identified the individual who lost her life in a shooting incident in Columbus which occurred on Saturday. According to the Nebraska State Patrol, Columbus Police Department officers were performing an investigation in the vicinity of 13th Street and 30th Avenue at 4:54 p.m. on that day. These officers encountered a 33-year-old female, identified as Lauree Jankowski, who is reported to have assaulted a police officer using a knife, resulting in the officer receiving an injury.
The Nebraska State Patrol reported that another officer involved at the scene fired the shot that led to Ms. Jankowski’s death. The state patrol stated that attempts were made by the responding officers to provide aid to Jankowski before she was pronounced deceased at the location.
