The Georgia State Patrol provided updated information Tuesday morning following the Sunday night fatal rollover incident in Stephens County.

According to the GSP, Michael Ray Wallen, 62, of Toccoa, was the driver of the vehicle and died from injuries suffered in the accident. His passenger, Pamela Ann McCaughey, 68, of Toccoa, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the single-car accident, which resulted in a rollover. No specific reason for the crash has been determined at this time.

On Sunday evening, authorities reported that social media channels for the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office indicated Oak Valley Road near Abbey Lane was closed following the single-car accident. Emergency services responded to the scene, transporting one person to a hospital and completing traffic management operations by around midnight.

The initial report, released Monday morning, stated that a late evening rollover crash in Stephens County resulted in one fatality and one individual with injuries. The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office initially noted that victim names were not being released pending notification of next of kin.
