California Highway Patrol officers were dispatched to Interstate 80 near Ashby Avenue early Sunday morning following reports of a serious collision. The incident occurred around 4:41 a.m. when a minivan departed the roadway.
According to Officer Adib Zeid, the driver of the vehicle was identified by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau as 35-year-old Abdul Kamraan from Alameda. The driver was operating an eastbound 2023 Toyota Sienna.
Investigators with the California Highway Patrol stated they are examining the cause of the crash, but do not currently suspect impairment by drugs or alcohol. Initial findings also suggest the vehicle was not traveling at an excessive speed. The case remains active as authorities continue their probe into the circumstances surrounding the fatality.
