MCCOMB, Mississippi — A murder-suicide is suspected in the deaths of an off-duty McComb police officer and another man, according to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a residence on Cole Thomas Road, located near East Highway 44, around 3 p.m. on August 5th. Inside the dwelling, authorities discovered Sgt. Jason Blake and Clay Paulk deceased, both victims of apparent gunshot injuries. A third individual, identified as Nicki Wilson, sustained a wound from a firearm but was transported to Southwest Regional Medical Center for treatment. Medical and law enforcement officials stated Wilson’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

According to the information released by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, initial investigations suggest that Clay Paulk entered the property forcibly. Prior to this incident, Paulk had a past relationship with Nicki Wilson. Following the forced entry, authorities believe Paulk shot Sgt. Jason Blake and Nicki Wilson using a shotgun. Ultimately, it is reported that Paulk ended his own life by firing a handgun before the arrival of law enforcement units. Detectives located his car nearby shortly after the incident.
