Two teenagers lost their lives in a car accident Friday morning in Macon, officials from the Bibb County sheriff’s and coroner’s offices confirmed.

Deputies and the Bibb County Coroner, Leon Jones, stated that only one car was involved in the fatal incident. The identified driver, Alexander Floyd Strebeck, who was 18 years old and from Forsyth, was driving a Dodge pickup truck. According to the deputies and Coroner Jones, this truck collided with a tree near the intersection of Zebulon Road and Coleparchee Road.
The fatal accident was reported to authorities by a 911 caller around 2:20 a.m. Coroner Jones further identified the 17-year-old passenger in the vehicle as Landon Brooks Lawless, who was from Fort Valley. Lawless was thrown from the truck by the impact, according to Coroner Jones.
Both Alexander Floyd Strebeck and Landon Brooks Lawless were pronounced dead at the accident scene by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley. The cause of their deaths was attributed directly to the injuries they received in the crash. The families of both victims were informed about the tragic outcome.
Records from the Bibb County Coroner’s Office indicate that both individuals involved were licensed drivers. The sheriff’s office stated that the collision was under investigation in the early hours of Friday morning.
