Dane County authorities have confirmed the identity of the man from Verona who passed away in a collision in Fitchburg the previous week.

The Medical Examiner’s office reported that Troy Lepien, a 54-year-old individual, succumbed to his injuries sustained in the incident. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later lost his life on August 7th.

UW Health provided details about Lepien’s role, noting he served as the system vice president of business integrity. A representative from the health system shared a statement about his impact, describing him as a valued colleague and someone who consistently prioritized patient care. They expressed deep sorrow over his loss and extended their condolences to his loved ones.

According to the Fitchburg Police Department, emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after 5:20 p.m. on Thursday. The crash involved a motorcycle and an SUV in the 2600 block of South Seminole Highway.

The Medical Examiner’s Office is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
