Officials from the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office have confirmed that the individual killed in the recent highway accident has been identified. Tuesday brought closure to the case that shocked the community.
Investigators from the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Highway 61 shortly before 6:10 p.m. on Monday. The initial call reported a vehicle collision on the southbound section of the highway that involved injuries.
Following a thorough examination of the scene, authorities revealed that the semi-truck driver had stopped along the roadside to secure their cargo. Unfortunately, another vehicle traveling in the southbound direction crashed into the trailer and the truck’s driver’s compartment.
The 26-year-old Jayesth Paul, who was from Canada, did not survive the impact. His death was the result of the injuries sustained in the collision.
Emergency responders took the other individual involved to a local hospital for medical assessment. The incident prompted a significant response from law enforcement and emergency services.
