The authorities in Lexington County have confirmed the identity of a man who lost his life in a serious highway collision over the weekend. Jose Rivas, who was 24 years old and lived in West Columbia, passed away as a result of the incident.
According to the Lexington County Coroner’s Office, the accident happened early on Sunday. Jose Rivas was driving a Mitsubishi sedan on Interstate 26 when he lost control of the vehicle. He drove off the road, collided with a guardrail, and the car turned over. He was the only person inside the car at the time.
Officials stated that Jose Rivas was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash. Further details regarding the incident are not yet available.
