James Richard Forshey, 64, Passes Away in Early Morning Tucson Car Crash
TUCSON, AZ — A 64-year-old man named James Richard Forshey died on Monday, August 11th, following a serious collision on East Valencia Road.
Tucson authorities report responding units from the city’s Operations Division South alongside the Fire Department arrived at the location around 7:00 AM. They found the motorcyclist, identified as James Richard Forshey, with critical injuries after his bike crashed into a vehicle. Medical personnel provided emergency care, but Mr. Forshey was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates Forshey’s 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound in the median when it struck a Dodge Journey station wagon. The vehicle involved in the collision was making a left-hand turn into a private driveway. Police noted the occupants of the Dodge remained at the scene and assisted with the investigation. Standard field sobriety tests and a preliminary drug screening were administered to the driver, who passed.
Further examination, including toxicology screening, will be part of the ongoing case review. Police have confirmed Forshey was not wearing a helmet. Investigators are saying the Dodge driver’s action of turning left into the path of an oncoming vehicle was a major reason for the accident.
At this moment, no citations or charges have been released. The ongoing investigation continues to gather information about the incident.
