NAPVILLE, Ill. (WGN) – A fatality resulted from a vehicular incident on Wednesday evening in the city of Naperville.

According to the local police force, the event transpired shortly after 10 p.m. at the junction of North Naper Boulevard and Plank Road.

Investigators reported that upon their arrival, they discovered a dark-colored 2016 Harley Davidson Fat Bob motorcycle severely damaged on the eastern side of the thoroughfare. The individual operating the motorcycle was found unresponsive at the scene.

The Naperville Police Department stated that the driver, identified as a 39-year-old resident of Naperville, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries there.

Preliminary findings from detectives suggest that the motorcyclist was heading north on North Naper Boulevard towards Plank Road when the vehicle departed the roadway and subsequently collided with a barrier.

North Naper Boulevard was temporarily closed to traffic in both directions between Plank Road and Meadow Lake Drive for more than three hours to allow for the ongoing investigation.
