The Richland County Coroner’s Office has officially confirmed that Ja’Myrion Hobbs, a 18-year-old resident of Mansfield, was the individual killed in a Sunday morning incident located in an alleyway between Lexington Avenue and South Main Street. According to reports, Hobbs suffered from multiple gunshot injuries. The victim had recently celebrated his 18th birthday in June. Chief investigator Bob Ball from the Richland County Coroner’s Office stated this information on Monday.
Mansfield police Sgt. Michael Haines secured the crime scene with police tape around the area just behind Jones Printing, which is situated between Lexington Avenue and South Main Street. This location was the site of the homicide that occurred on Sunday morning. Ball indicated that the body would be transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for a thorough autopsy examination.
Mansfield police Chief Jason Bammann highlighted that the department has gathered numerous tips and leads from the public since the homicide took place. He emphasized the importance of continuing to receive such information, stating that the evidence suggests multiple suspects are involved in this case. Bammann noted that preliminary investigations indicate more than one weapon was used during the incident. The victim was immediately transported by the Mansfield Fire Department to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed death. Bammann described the event as not a random attack, suggesting targeted involvement, and assured the public that there is no current threat to anyone.
