Fatal Columbia shooting death of Isaiah Lee

The Columbia Police Department (CPD) is examining this incident following a shooting that occurred this afternoon at 927 Vista Towers Drive. Police were dispatched to the scene around 1 p.m. after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found an injured man and EMS transported him to a local hospital for treatment. The condition of the victim remains unknown at this time.

The CPD stated that one person is currently in custody and is being questioned by investigators. However, authorities have not revealed any information about potential motives behind the shooting.

Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford has announced the identity of the man who died from his injuries. Isaiah Lee, an 18-year-old from Columbia, was shot at the Vista Towers apartment complex near the Elmwood Avenue/Huger Street/I-126 interchange.

Kai Murray, an 18-year-old also from Columbia, has been formally charged with murder and possession of a firearm during a violent crime. Police indicate that Murray and Lee are related. Law enforcement agencies plan to continue their investigation with the Columbia Police Department.
