A grandmother met her end in a tragic vehicle accident in the Peach State while making her way home to see her grandchild, sources confirmed. The heartbreaking news came from her family, who shared that she had just left the hospital after visiting her one-month-old grandson.
Details surrounding the fatal incident were provided by her kin. It was stated that the 76-year-old woman, who tragically lost her life in the accident, is Nancy Lee Veasy. The local law enforcement saw the truck operator being cuffed, though it has been reported that charges have not yet been filed against him as they await evidence collection.
A grandmother passed away in a fatal accident in Georgia while returning home from visiting her infant grandson, her family disclosed.
The collision, which proved fatal, took place at the junction of Fulton Industrial Boulevard and Robinson Drive around 4:15 p.m. on Friday, July 25. According to information released by the South Fulton Police Department, two people did not survive the collision.
When asked about the incident, local news sources reported that one of the victims has been identified by family members as 76-year-old Nancy Lee Veasy.
Her daughter, Ameera Joe, shared with the media outlet that her mother was on her way home after having visited her 1-month-old grandson when the accident happened.
A relative, Japhet, reported that his mother was traveling back home when the accident occurred. He mentioned getting out of his own car after the accident, only to find his mom sadly deceased inside her vehicle. He described still seeing her image in the car.
Another relative, Cloys Veasy, Nancy’s husband, expressed that she cherished holding babies. He added that she wanted to hold any baby she encountered.
According to the news affiliate, Nancy was traveling down Fulton Industrial Boulevard when the accident occurred.
A witness contacted by the news outlet described the scene, explaining that a truck driver was behaving erratically, which led the vehicle to cross into the opposite lane of traffic and collide with two cars, one of which was driven by Nancy.
Family members shared that Nancy never put her grandson down during the visit. Her son Japhet emphasized, “She never put the baby down. The whole time.” He further expressed, “She wanted to hold them babies. Anybody’s baby,” referring to her fondness for infants.
A funeral service for Nancy is reportedly set to take place at North Point Community Church in Alpharetta on August 11th.
