**Bo Soo Choi dies in fatal Cayuga Lake drowning**
Fatal Cayuga Lake drowning death of Bo Soo Choi
Emergency services were dispatched early Monday morning following reports of people in distress within Cayuga Lake. Rescue efforts took place near Sheldrake Point in the Town of Ovid. Although multiple individuals were pulled from the water, Bo Soo Choi remained missing.
The Sheriff’s Office utilized its drone and boat elements in an extensive search for Choi. Additional fire departments contributed to the operation. Search activities were suspended as darkness fell, resuming the following morning at daybreak. At 11:15 a.m., search teams discovered Choi’s body submerged nearly 70 feet beneath the surface.
According to authorities, the drowning occurred after a kayak Choi was operating overturned during a maneuver. While another male was rescued by bystanders, Choi was unable to reach safety. The Sheriff’s Office highlighted that Choi was not equipped with a life-saving vest during the incident.
