Emergency responders discovered the body of Cecilia A. O’Keefe during a blaze at her apartment building in St. Paul, according to the city police department. The death is not believed to involve any criminal activity.
Officials from the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identity of the deceased woman. She was seventy years old.
On Friday morning, at approximately 3:45 a.m., the St. Paul Fire Department received a call about smoke in the hallway on the first floor of the Como by the Lake Senior Apartments located at 901 E. Como Blvd. Firefighters arrived to find noticeable smoke emanating from O’Keefe’s apartment, which was part of a senior living community catering to residents aged fifty-five and above.
Once the flames were put out, rescue teams entered the unit and located O’Keefe deceased inside. Further details regarding the death are currently being looked into by authorities. Alyssa Arcand, serving as the St. Paul police spokeswoman, shared this update.
The exact reason for the fire, which was kept confined to the single apartment, has not yet been determined. Jamie Smith, who holds the position of Deputy Fire Chief, made this statement.
