Ryan Wardwell was descending a high cliff along the Kern River, situated within Sequoia National Forest, when powerful moving water caused him to leave his secure path. This powerful flow of water pushed him into an exposed area behind a waterfall named Seven Teacups.
Wardwell was reported missing the day following the incident. Search efforts were initiated after authorities observed that his vehicle had not been moved from its starting spot near a parking area.
