The Allentown Police Department has announced the closure of West Tilghman Street on the morning of August 3rd, 2025. The reason cited is an ongoing inquiry into a collision that took place in the early hours. A motorcycle and a car were involved and were found near the rear of the scene, located within the 300 block of Tilghman Street. Tragically, the motorcycle operator, identified as 25-year-old Allentown resident Stanley Aviles-Espaillat, was pronounced deceased at a nearby hospital facility.
Further official identification confirms the victim, Stanley Aviles-Espaillat, as a 25-year-old man from Allentown. He lost his life on the early morning of August 3rd, 2025, after arriving at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg in Bethlehem at approximately 8:15 a.m.
An examination by the Lehigh County Coroner, Daniel A. Buglio, determined that Mr. Aviles-Espaillat’s death resulted from multiple impacts to the body and was ruled an accident. The specific time of the incident, around 3:20 a.m., happened in the 300 block of West Tilghman Street, according to Allentown Police Captain Stephen J. Milkovits III.
Initial reports suggest Mr. Aviles-Espaillat was traveling eastbound on Tilghman Street at a considerable speed. The investigating officer stated that the other vehicle engaged in a U-turn maneuver on the street. It is reported that Mr. Aviles-Espaillat subsequently crossed into the opposing flow of traffic before colliding with the car. Police personnel discovered the injured motorcyclist lying motionless in the street and provided medical aid before transporting him to the hospital. The other driver involved in the accident remained at the scene and is reportedly cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
