Fatal Lake Livingston drowning death of Scarlett Boles
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched on August 12 to the Blanchard boat ramp on Lake Livingston to address a reported drowning situation.
An eighteen-year-old individual, identified as Scarlett Boles, was involved in this incident while swimming with her companions at the site. According to preliminary reports, she submerged into the water and failed to resurface, prompting an urgent response.
Her friends acted swiftly by locating her, contacting emergency services, and administering CPR, with the dispatcher providing instructions to assist until the arrival of the sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies continued the life-saving measures until emergency medical technicians arrived and took over the resuscitation efforts. Despite these combined attempts, Ms. Boles was airlifted to CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial in Livingston but did not survive the injuries.
The ongoing investigation requires an autopsy, which will be performed by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the full circumstances of the death.
