Fatal Pleasanton shooting death of Lance Chan

Pleasanton authorities announced Friday night that the man killed in the city was 61-year-old Lance Chan, the father of the suspect. The incident occurred in Pleasanton.

According to the Pleasanton Police Department, the fatal shooting took place approximately at 9:40 p.m. in the 4600 block of Helpert Court, situated near Inglewood Drive. Police officers arrived at the scene to find Chan with a gunshot wound.

Chan was transported to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival, as reported by police.

Lucas Chan, who is 28 years old and resides in Pleasanton, was taken into custody at the location where the shooting occurred.

Police also mentioned that they removed improvised explosive devices from the suspect’s home. Because of these devices, as well as the discovery of a 3D printer and several ghost guns, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has joined the ongoing investigation.

Witnesses told police that the shooting was preceded by a verbal argument.

In a news release issued on Monday, police stated, “At the present time, there is no known threat to public safety.”

According to records from the Alameda County jail, Lucas Chan was booked into the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on felony charges, which include murder and possession of a destructive device.
