Dawson County law enforcement is pursuing leads into a collision involving a motorist and a pedestrian that took place Monday night. Sheriff Mark Montgomery confirmed that officers and emergency personnel were sent to the area on Highway 30, near Road 436, at approximately 9:33 p.m. on August 18, 2025.
Cristofer Guzman, who was nineteen years old and from Lexington, was driving his Jeep eastbound when he collided with a woman who was walking in the path of his vehicle. When the responding deputies arrived, they began administering CPR to the injured individual. Additional support from Priority Medical and the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department was immediately dispatched to the scene. Ms. Navarrete-Chavez was taken to Lexington Regional Health Center and was pronounced deceased upon arrival.
The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office has expressed its heartfelt sympathies to the family of Navarrete-Chavez. Furthermore, assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol was requested and provided at the incident location.
