Toronto police have confirmed that the death of a 19-year-old man inside Scarborough Town Centre earlier this week constitutes a homicide. According to an official announcement made on Saturday, the victim has been identified as Daniel Amalathas, who was 19 years old.
Police reports indicate that a shopper discovered Amalathas unconscious inside a family restroom, which is situated close to the lower-level food court, on Thursday afternoon. Emergency services were called to the scene, where medical examiners pronounced the young man deceased immediately.
Amalathas is reported to be the 27th person to have been killed in a homicide incident in Toronto during the year 2025.
