Fatal Elkhart car crash death of Shannon O’Conner
A Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported a fatality involving multiple vehicles on Tuesday, August 19, at 7:35 p.m. The incident happened at the intersection of Northeast 29th Street and Northeast 142nd Avenue in Elkhart.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find occupants ejected from one of the vehicles involved. Law enforcement identified one male adult as 65-year-old Shannon O’Conner from Alleman, who was pronounced deceased at the location. The other ejected individual was identified as 55-year-old Tammy O’Conner, also from Alleman. She was transported by ambulance to a hospital, where her condition proved fatal.
The driver of the second vehicle, an unidentified male adult, was also airlifted to a medical facility. His injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office indicated the crash’s cause remains undetermined and is currently under investigation.
