Fatal Fresno car crash death of Thawon Pho

Law enforcement authorities have secured Julian Quinonez, a 33-year-old Fresno resident, following his arrest in connection with the death of a motorcyclist on Highway 168 in the central-eastern section of Fresno. Quinonez was apprehended by the California Highway Patrol on Friday. The fatal collision transpired shortly before the midnight hour on Thursday, located near McKinley Avenue. According to investigators, Quinonez was operating his westbound Hyundai Elantra when he collided with the rear of 27-year-old motorcyclist Thawon Pho. This impact ejected Pho from his cycle and landed him directly onto Quinonez’s vehicle hood. Subsequently, Pho fell clear of the stopped car but was then struck by traffic moving in the opposite direction. Medical examiners confirmed his death at the scene. Notably, preliminary reports indicate Quinonez stopped his vehicle initially before deserting it and fleeing on foot. Charges filed against Quinonez include gross vehicular manslaughter, a hit-and-run offense, and a violation of his parole obligations. He has been formally processed at the Fresno County Jail facility.
