Police officials have confirmed the identity of the individual killed in the collision. Prince George’s County law enforcement stated the deceased was Canty, a 35-year-old mother from Washington, D.C.
The serious collision transpired approximately at 3:50 p.m. Seat Pleasant officers observed the incident while patrolling the intersection of Seat Pleasant Drive and Joplin Street. The vehicle involved had been flagged as stolen nearly two months prior.
According to initial police assessment, the stolen automobile increased speed along Sheriff Road. It proceeded to disregard a traffic signal at an intersection with Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, subsequently colliding with Canty’s vehicle. Emergency medical personnel pronounced Canty deceased at the accident site. A minor passenger in the car received hospital treatment for significant but not critical injuries.
