Fatal Casco car crash death of Nicholas Strout
Cumberland County authorities report a man from Hiram passed away Sunday morning following a serious single-car accident on State Park Road, close to the Casco-Naples border. Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene around 1:15 a.m. to find a 2006 silver Jeep Grand Cherokee completely consumed by flames. The identified driver, 35-year-old Nicholas Strout from Hiram, was discovered outside the vehicle with severe injuries.
Strout was transported to Bridgton Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries later that morning. Investigators stated Strout was driving westbound on State Park Road towards Naples when his car veered off the road and collided with a substantial tree. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office indicated that both excessive speed and alcohol consumption are considered potential contributing factors to the accident.
Crews closed State Park Road for several hours to process the crash scene. The incident is currently being examined by the sheriff’s office alongside the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
