Officials from the coroner’s office have officially confirmed the identities of the two individuals who lost their lives in a collision on the Pee Dee Highway. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday afternoon.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol provided information regarding the accident, which took place at 5:40 p.m. The crash happened at the intersection of US 15 and Bethlehem Road. Emergency responders arrived at the scene promptly after the collision was reported.

An investigation revealed that the deceased passengers were 21-year-old Jessica Sturdivant and her 19-year-old sibling, Jasa Sturdivant, both residents of Cheraw. Their lives were tragically cut short when the vehicle they were traveling in collided with another motorist.

The wreckage involved a 2006 Honda sedan, registered to the Sturdivant family, and a newer 2020 Dodge Ram pickup truck. According to preliminary reports, the Honda was moving northbound on the main highway when the Dodge Ram, traveling east on Bethlehem Road, attempted to cross the oncoming traffic lanes. In addition to the two fatalities, preliminary reports indicate that another individual who was occupying the Honda sedan at the time of the crash sustained injuries, though the extent of their condition is not yet fully known.
