Fatal San Antonio shooting death of Jaime Gonzalez

The San Antonio police force has announced the identity of the individual they discharged on Friday, describing the event that took place on the city’s East Side as a result of the man aiming a firearm at law enforcement officers.

Details were provided by the department, which reported that Jaime Gonzalez, aged 41, lost his life in his residence situated in the 800 block of N. Cherry Street, adjacent to Berkley V. & Vincent M. Dawson Park. This information was shared with the public on Tuesday.

The officers involved in the incident have been named as Tyler Brown, Marco Trevino, Matthew Olivares, Joseph Orozco, and Steven Flores. According to reports, each of these individuals has gained between five and seven years of experience with the San Antonio Police Department, and they are currently placed on administrative leave while an ongoing investigation is completed.

Preliminary records from the police indicate that Gonzalez was observed driving in a manner that was unsteady and unpredictable in the neighborhood before the fatal encounter. Further details suggest that he was engaged in a dispute with two other drivers prior to this event. According to Chief William McManus, Gonzalez pursued one of the drivers, confronted him, and subsequently entered his home. Once inside, Gonzalez retrieved a shotgun and began discharging it in the air, as noted in the police documentation.

Speaking to reporters at the scene on Friday, the chief mentioned that Gonzalez turned his attention to law enforcement after their arrival. Upon the officers’ arrival at approximately 10:35 a.m., Gonzalez pointed the shotgun directly at them. In response, the five officers fired their weapons, and Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the location where the incident occurred.
