Anne Tichelaar Expired in a House Conflagration
Anne Tichelaar, a resident of ninety years of age, passed away in a fire at her residence.
The Fatal blaze in Middleborough claiming the life of Anne Tichelaar
Emergency services were dispatched to a two-story dwelling at 72 Everett St. just before 2:50 in the early hours of the morning, according to the Middleborough Fire Department. Upon their arrival, they discovered intense flames inside the property.
Firefighters arrived to find the building engulfed in flames. While three people managed to leave the structure before the first responders arrived, the crews located a woman on the ground floor who had been unable to get out. Middleborough Fire officials confirmed this.
Identified as Anne Tichelaar, the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her identity was made public on September 2nd.
Officials from the local and state levels suspect that smoking materials ignited the fire. Massachusetts State Police investigators concluded the blaze started accidentally in the living room on the first floor due to smoking materials.
It was also reported by the fire department that the home lacked operational smoke alarms.
The head of the Middleborough Fire Department expressed condolences to Tichelaar’s family. “On behalf of the Middleborough Fire Department, I wish to convey our sincere condolences to the family of Ms. Tichelaar,” Thompson stated. “This incident serves as a stark reminder that smoking is the primary cause of deadly fires in Massachusetts. It is crucial for everyone, especially smokers and visitors, to utilize a sturdy ashtray containing water or sand and to extinguish cigarettes completely each time.”
Further action was taken; officials mentioned that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner would conduct an examination to determine the precise cause and official manner of Anne Tichelaar’s death.
In addition, Thompson brought attention to the fact that this event constituted the third fire-related fatality in Middleborough within the last two years.
