Fatal St. George car crash death of Norene Jones, Catherine Gray, and Jeffry Alan Gray
A devastating head-on collision on Interstate 15 in St. George claimed three lives and left one person injured, as confirmed by authorities. The Utah Highway Patrol detailed that the incident occurred when a driver deviated from the correct path, leading to a fatal accident.
The individuals who lost their lives have been officially identified. Norene Jones, an 89-year-old resident of St. George, was operating her vehicle in the opposite direction of travel. She entered the northbound lanes while heading southbound, resulting in the collision. In the other car, Catherine Gray, aged 68 and from Washington City, was driving, and her passenger, Jeffry Alan Gray, also 68 and from Washington City, was among the deceased.
Preliminary reports from the Utah Highway Patrol indicated that a senior citizen in her late 90s was responsible for entering the wrong lane. This driver, now identified as Norene Jones, crashed directly into a Toyota vehicle that had four people inside. The occupants of that car included two survivors, both of whom are females in their late teens or early twenties. They received minor injuries and were airlifted to a hospital for treatment, though no further details were shared about their recovery.
Following the crash, state officials took the necessary steps to inform the public. The Utah Highway Patrol formally released the names of the victims on Tuesday, providing closure to those affected. The wrong-way driver’s actions are under review, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding this tragic event. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of road safety and adherence to traffic regulations.
