The fatal Jackson car crash death of Dwayne Mable occurred Monday evening.
Police involvement escalated when Capitol officers attempted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle, yet the driver refused to yield, sparking a pursuit. Shortly afterward, the vehicle crashed at the junction of Northside Drive and Edwards Avenue.
Jackson Fire Department personnel worked to remove the driver from the wreckage. Medical examiners confirmed the death at the scene.
Capitol Police confirmed Dwayne Mable, a 28-year-old, was behind the wheel.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is now examining the incident.
