Citrus Heights, Calif. — A 28-year-old man whose identity has been confirmed, died as a result of injuries suffered during a collision that occurred after he led police on a pursuit in the Citrus Heights area.

According to the official records from the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, Devin James Newton, a resident of Roseville, passed away near the intersection of Antelope Road and Mariposa Avenue. Law enforcement sources indicate that the incident began when Newton failed to comply with a lawful traffic stop request near Antelope Road and Wonder Street.

Officers reported that Newton immediately fled the scene, disregarding traffic signals and operating his motorcycle without illumination during the incident. Information regarding his movements was relayed by air support units from the Sacramento Police Department.

The collision transpired at the identified intersection, leading to the operator’s ejection from the motorcycle. Emergency medical services were dispatched but were unable to save Newton’s life. The female driver involved in the crash was reported to have sustained minor injuries.
