MICHAEL SANCHEZ DIES IN FATAL KEIZER HIT-AND-RUN
Fatal Keizer hit-and-run death of Michael Sanchez
A pedestrian fatality occurred in Keizer stemming from a hit-and-run incident. Michael Sanchez, a 28-year-old man, was killed when struck by a vehicle while walking along Northeast Trail Avenue on Wednesday evening, September 18th, the Keizer Police Department reported.
The fatal collision, which happened near Northeast Harmoney Drive, was first reported at 7:49 p.m. by a nearby resident who heard the impact and discovered Sanchez injured on the ground, according to Lt. Tim Hein. He confirmed Sanchez resided in the vicinity.
The vehicle responsible for the fatality fled the scene but left behind some debris at the location. Police located the suspect vehicle – a 2014 Jeep Wrangler – in Keizer earlier that night. Jeanette Carbajal, 33, of Keizer, was arrested for failing to perform the duties of a driver toward an injured person. This offense is considered a felony.
Lt. Hein indicated the ongoing investigation may lead to additional criminal charges related to the incident. This is reported as the second pedestrian fatality in Keizer this year.
