Police in Colorado Springs confirmed the identity of the person struck in the early morning accident. The incident occurred on the ramp leading to the I-25 highway.
According to reports, officers were dispatched shortly before dawn on Wednesday, September 10th. Upon their arrival, they discovered Anthony Dutchak deceased at the scene. An initial police assessment indicated he was struck by another vehicle.
Further examination took place on Thursday, September 11th, when an autopsy was performed by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office. This official examination formally identified Anthony Dutchak as the fatality from the crash.
Specialized investigation teams were then assigned to the case, taking over from the initial responding officers. As of Friday, September 19th, this major traffic incident was still under review. However, preliminary findings suggested driver impairment was not considered a contributing factor.
This specific fatality represents the 42nd traffic-related death in Colorado Springs during the current year. Comparatively, the same period in the previous year recorded 39 fatalities from traffic incidents.
