Reports indicate Officer Malik Baker was operating his vehicle, a Toyota, behind a Ford pickup truck pulling a trailer when the collision occurred. The impact from striking the trailer resulted in Officer Malik Baker’s death. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Ford pickup truck, a 57-year-old man from Missouri, sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital. Illinois State Police are currently investigating the crash that led to Officer Malik Baker’s death.
