According to preliminary reports from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the single-vehicle crash happened around 10:02 p.m. at milepost 6. The investigation revealed that Mr. Newton was operating a white 2011 Cadillac CTS heading westbound when the car deviated from the road and collided with multiple trees. Emergency responders confirmed his death at the scene, while his passenger, identified as Erica Newton, a 36-year-old resident of Lexington, was airlifted to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
