Terri Saenz dies in fatal Globe flooding

Fatal Globe flooding death of Terri Saenz

Nearly two days after being reported missing following Friday night’s severe flooding in the Globe-Miami region, a search was called off as authorities confirmed the discovery of her remains, raising the known death toll from the storm to three. Local news station 12News received information from family members that Terri Saenz’s body was located late on Sunday night.

Speaking to the media, Saenz’s son Anthony Glover expressed the family’s profound sorrow, stating, “We all love our mom and we all want her home.” He shared that Saenz was en route from Miami to the Valley, driving her red Chevy Camaro westbound, when catastrophic flash floods triggered by intense thunderstorms swept her vehicle. A driver who observed the incident called 911. According to Glover, rescue teams found the car in a severely damaged state on Saturday.

The wreckage was described as “totally demolished,” with Glover noting that the car’s tires were missing and the engine had been dislodged. While the Glover family began preparations for a search on Monday morning after having spoken to 12News on Sunday afternoon, they were informed Sunday night that their mother had been located.

In addition to Saenz, 50-year-old Heather Johnson, employed as a delivery driver at Arizona Silver Belt and Copper Country News, was also among the fatalities. The company’s operations manager, Tina Nixon, released a statement expressing condolences and recalling Johnson’s contributions and resilience in overcoming cancer. A GoFundMe campaign was established by Johnson’s family to assist with related expenses.

Despite no new missing persons reports being filed with local authorities, search and rescue operations continue as officials monitor the situation following the devastating weather event.
