Investigators from the Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit are examining a collision that occurred on Monday morning in the East Lubbock area. The fatality happened early on.
The Lubbock Police Department reported receiving a call at 6:13 a.m. about a crash involving injuries. The initial report described a situation with a large truck and a smaller passenger vehicle. Upon their arrival, police discovered Jenna Garcia, who was 31 years old, at the crash site and confirmed she had passed away.
According to information gathered during the initial investigation, Ms. Garcia was operating a minivan. The vehicle was traveling south on Olive Avenue and entered an intersection. There, it collided head-on with a semi-truck that was going east on Slaton Highway.
The individual driving the semi-truck was treated for minor injuries and was taken to University Medical Center for further assessment.
