Fatal Scurry County car crash death of Orlando Tello and Silvia Lemon
Texas authorities confirmed two fatalities following a significant collision on Monday evening. The incident occurred on US-180 in Scurry County at approximately 9:05 p.m.
The operator of the eighteen-wheeler sustained no injuries. However, the occupants of the second vehicle involved, Orlando Tello, 32, from Lamesa, and Silvia Lemon, 59, from Lamesa, were pronounced deceased at the scene by Judge Joe Lay.
Two individuals from the third vehicle suffered severe injuries. Sid Rodriquez, 44, from Snyder, was transported to UMC Lubbock for medical attention. Alejia Lucero, 41 from Lubbock, was taken to Hendrick Medical Center.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the eighteen-wheeler was heading west on US-180. The second vehicle was following the semi-truck. The third vehicle approached from the opposite direction.
Investigators state the crash began when the driver of the third vehicle crossed the center line and struck the two vehicles ahead.
The ongoing probe continues to determine the exact causes behind this collision.
