Fatal Bakersfield shooting death of Jacob Jesus Hernandez
The Kern County Coroner’s Office announced the identification of the 15-year-old youth who passed away as a result of being shot in the eastern section of Bakersfield, with the boy identified as Jacob Jesus Hernandez from Bakersfield.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, on September 26, 2025, at approximately 11:42 p.m., police personnel were sent to Highland Knolls Drive and Morning Drive following a report about a shooting event. Upon their arrival, they encountered two adolescent males, both suffering from injuries that appeared to stem from gunfire, located in the 4200 block of Morning Drive.
The two teens were taken to a medical facility; the 15-year-old, identified as Jacob Jesus Hernandez, did not survive his injuries. The 16-year-old companion suffered only slight harm.
Investigators from the department’s homicide unit took over the case to conduct a thorough inquiry.
