Early Monday morning, law enforcement reported that a man took his own life after first causing the death of his partner in a suburban area near Plainfield. According to initial reports, multiple shots were heard prompting a police response.
At approximately 5:49 a.m., officers were sent to a specific home on Burshire Court in the Clublands community following indications of a shooting incident. Upon reaching the site, emergency personnel found a 40-year-old male outside in the front yard, who had been wounded fatally by his own gunfire.
Inside the residence, responders located a second 40-year-old individual, identified as Jennifer Heit, who showed signs of being shot. The situation was described as a domestic occurrence by preliminary investigations.
Four children, whose ages spanned from young to older youth, were present at the location but suffered no harm. Authorities have arranged for these minors to be cared for by a family member.
The ongoing examination into the event is led by the Joliet Police Department, and they are seeking additional information from the public.
