Fatal Kidder Township fiery crash death of Nick Berkheimer
An official with the Carbon County Coroner’s office announced the identity of the individual who died during a severe accident on Friday evening. The deceased is Nick Berkheimer, who was 31 years old and resided in Hazleton.
According to the coroner’s office, Berkheimer’s cause of death was determined to be burns along with injuries resulting from blunt force trauma, both stemming from the incident on Route 940 within Kidder Township.
Police reported that Berkheimer’s vehicle departed the roadway, subsequently striking a tree and causing a fire shortly after the collision.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene but were unable to perform a rescue from the vehicle.
Berkheimer was declared deceased at the site of the accident by medical professionals.
The authorities investigating the incident have officially classified Berkheimer’s death as an unintentional accident.
