The Denton authorities confirmed Carranza’s residence in Denton. Subsequently, the Denton police department apprehended two individuals, a man and a woman, under suspicion of being involved in Carranza’s fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday.
The individuals arrested are Alfred Lamont Jackson Jr., aged 26 from Mississippi, and Olivia Guster, 24 years old, also from Mississippi. The allegations implicate Jackson as the perpetrator of the shooting, while Guster is also believed to be connected to the incident.
Initially, no official public documents pertaining to the suspects or the shooting were accessible through the Denton County District Clerk’s Office by Monday afternoon. Mugshot photographs were taken of Alfred Lamont Jackson Jr. and Olivia Guster while they were being held at the Denton County Jail.
Emergency services were called at 12:58 a.m. Sunday due to reports of a confrontation in the parking area of a QuikTrip gas station located at 321 Eagle Drive. The person who contacted 911 reported hearing gunshots while speaking with dispatchers. Upon arrival, police found Carranza suffering from a serious gunshot wound. Medical personnel took him to Medical City Denton; shortly after, around 1:19 a.m., he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators then managed to identify a suspected vehicle in the 1400 block of West University Drive, leading to a traffic stop. A brief foot chase ensued, resulting in the capture of Alfred Lamont Jackson Jr. Olivia Guster, who was still inside the car, was taken into custody as well.
Jackson faces charges including murder, aggravated assault, and evading law enforcement. Guster is specifically charged with the offense of murder. According to the investigation, a dispute arose between the couple and Carranza along with his companion concerning who had the right of way at the gas station. The reports indicate that Jackson allegedly assaulted Carranza’s friend with a shovel, then took aim with a gun at both individuals before shooting Carranza in the chest area. The police spokesperson added that Guster physically attacked Carranza and his friend by hitting them with her fists.
As of Monday afternoon, both Jackson and Guster were still held at the Denton County Jail. Jackson’s bail amount was established at $2.1 million, contrasting with Guster’s set bail of $1 million.
