Vallejo, California authorities reported receiving a 911 dispatch around 5:15 p.m. concerning an individual concealed in a tracksuit and face mask near an automobile. Additional emergency services were summoned approximately one hour later regarding claims of vehicle window vandalism at a nearby parking area.
A subsequent report, arriving shortly after 6:05 p.m., involved a female party participant who conveyed that the man, confirmed later as Alexander Schumann, had expressed a desire for law enforcement intervention through lethal force. Police personnel responded to the location to assist this individual.
Citing information from the Vallejo Police Department, officers subsequently received instructions demanding visual confirmation of Schumann’s hands be provided. Unreleased video evidence, according to reports from local news source Open Vallejo, seemed to depict the individual brandishing what appeared to be an air-powered pellet weapon. Schumann reportedly shifted his body orientation away from the responding officers, raising his arms above his head, moments before receiving gunfire from his rear.
Emergency medical technicians were dispatched to offer medical support. Tragically, despite their efforts, Alexander Schumann succumbed to his injuries. According to available information, the suspect was experiencing a severe mental health episode at the time of the incident.
