North Haven authorities have confirmed the identity of the man whose body was recovered from the river during the previous weekend. According to statements released on Monday evening by local law enforcement, Joel Auguste, aged 32 and residing in Shelton, has been identified.
Investigators have indicated that at this point, there are no indications suggesting criminal activity is linked to Mr. Auguste’s passing. However, it has been noted that an official probe is still in progress. The involvement of the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and officials from Shelton continues to support the ongoing investigation.
In a statement of sympathy, the police department expressed their condolences to the victim’s family and friends during this challenging period.
On Sunday, recreational kayakers discovered Mr. Auguste’s body in the river. State police diving units provided assistance to the initial rescuers in the subsequent recovery operation.
